Conservation Education comes to Hallsville!

posted Feb 1, 2017, 12:00 PM by Betsy Damon
HomeNew Hampshire Conservation Corps members will spend the next several months teaching elementary school students about the environment in the Manchester Public Schools. Hallsville will have a crew of Corps members working with the fourth and fifth graders. This program allows members from this organization to come in and teach lessons to each of the fourth and fifth grade classrooms for one hour a week, for nine weeks. The SCA has been doing this program in Manchester for many years providing lessons based on the NH State Science Curriculum! Beginning in February and going through April on Wednesday mornings, SCA volunteers will spend 45 minutes with our classes. Joining us this year, we welcome SCA members Sam, Sherry, and Avalon. The exact dates/times are not quite sorted out, but we will be participating and planning a field trip to Bear Brook State Park as a culminating event in May. Please be sure your child has appropriate outdoor clothing because we tend to go outside for many SCA lessons. Lesson topics included: soils, trees, insulation, rock cycle, animals (habitats, tracking), recycling, water cycle, and so much more!
