“HOWLSVILLE” PARADE

Dear Parents and Guardians,

For many years it has been a tradition at Hallsville School to have a costume parade on Halloween. This year our parade will be on Thursday, October 31st, starting @ approx. 2:00pm. Classes will come out and line up against the inside fence on the Merrill Street side and then we will parade out the back gate down Merrill Street and around the block to Hayward, then Jewett Street. We will do this route twice---weather permitting.

Student safety is our first concern. For best and safest viewing, please secure your spots on the opposite sides of any of the streets so that the double line of students can safely access the sidewalks as they walk around the block.

Please keep costumes simple. Students can wear costumes all day at school or change into them for the parade. Students will not be permitted to carry props in the parade, so please leave them at home. Masks that allow for full visibility of the walking area will be allowed.

Teachers will be in contact with you if they are accepting treats in the classrooms that day. If you do not hear from them, they have already taken care of their needs.

If you choose not to have your child participate in the parade, please send your child’s teacher a written note with that direction. We will have a staff-supervised, alternative activity for those who do not wish to participate.

All students will re-enter the building with their classes, and will be dismissed at 2:50. We ask that you please wait for them to be dismissed in the usual way and not come in to sign them out. By the time they re-enter and gather their items it will be very close to our regular dismissal time.

If you have any questions about any of these logistics, please contact your child’s teacher.

We hope to see you at the parade! Bring your cameras and join the fun!

Thank you!

Mr. MacDonald
